Education Assistance

In its 2020 report, Trends in College Pricing and Student Aid, the College Board reports that a moderate college budget for an in-state student attending a four-year public college in 2020-2021 averages $26,820 per year.

This program, funded through the Blue Skies Endowment Fund, is designed to support the educational aspirations of the children of fallen aircrew by providing financial assistance to cover tuition, room and board, and books for both traditional college and trade school programs. Recognizing the diverse career paths and educational needs of these children, the Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation is committed to supporting their journey, whether it leads to a university degree or skilled trade certification.

The Blue Skies Endowment Fund is a Quasi-Endowment Fund (known as a “board-designated” endowment) that will be employed to achieve the Blue Skies Foundation’s educational support objectives for Gold Star families. The endowment is managed with consideration to guidelines established by the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) and accounted for using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and guidance published by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), ASC Topic 958.
