Sergeant Jeremy C. Sherman died November 12, 2020 when the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter he was crewing crashed during a peacekeeping mission in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

Jeremy was born on January 6, 1997 in Covington, TN. He was a 2015 graduate of Watseka Community High School. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed summers at Yogi Bear Camp Grounds, and had a love for dogs, especially Chewy, his pet Chihuahua. Jeremey loved the Chicago Bears and ice cream. He was a loyal friend and cherished his family.

Jeremy joined the United States Army in 2015 as Crew Chief. His decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

Jeremy served in South Korea, Afghanistan, and Egypt. While serving, he was working on his degree in Aeronautics in hopes of one day becoming a Black Hawk Pilot.

He is survived by his mother and father, Gwendolyn and Scott Childress of Watseka; his brother, Nathan Childress of Watseka; his sister, Shea Childress of Watseka; and his wife, Kathleen Sherman.
